A highly anticipated announcement has just been confirmed today—one that, while expected, is sure to shake up the women’s PREMIER PADEL circuit!
Following her split with Sofía Araujo after the P2 in Brussels, Marta Ortega, currently ranked No. 7 in the world, has announced her new partner for the upcoming P2 in Asunción, Paraguay: the young and talented Alejandra Alonso. A pairing that blends experience, youth, and high expectations.
The news comes after both Marta and Sofía confirmed the end of their sporting project together. Despite achieving notable success last year, including titles at the P2 events in Genoa and Egypt, their current season hadn’t met expectations, prompting both players to seek new paths to reignite their careers.
While Sofía Araujo has already confirmed her new partnership with Andrea Ustero, all eyes were on who would team up with Martita next. And the rumors have now been confirmed: Alejandra Alonso—until now Ustero’s partner, with whom she formed the duo known as "Las Turkis"—will be Marta Ortega’s new teammate.
This move represents a golden opportunity for the young Alejandra, currently ranked No. 14 in the world, to compete alongside one of the sport’s established stars.
Although Alejandra has yet to claim a Premier Padel title, she’s a player with tremendous potential, power, and a competitive mindset. Now, alongside a top-tier partner like Marta Ortega—who brings athleticism, experience, and composure—they could become a formidable duo, ready to climb the rankings and, why not, lift a major trophy together.
And let’s not forget—this isn’t the first time we’ve seen Marta and Alejandra on court together! Last year, they joined forces at the PRO PADEL LEAGUE in Las Vegas, where they played a key role in their team’s tournament victory. Since then, rumors about their potential as a team have circulated... and now, it’s official.

The new Ortega-Alonso duo will enter the P2 in Asunción as the No. 5 seeded pair. The combination of Marta’s experience and commanding physical presence—once the youngest World No. 1 in history—and Alejandra’s youth, power, and shot quality promises to be explosive.
Undoubtedly, the key for this new pairing will lie in their on-court chemistry and understanding. They’ll need to continue working hard to blend their playing styles and develop the synergy needed to compete at the highest level of the Premier Padel circuit.
Meanwhile, Sofía Araujo and Andrea Ustero will compete as the No. 4 seed in the same Asunción tournament. Given how close the two pairs are in the rankings, it’ll be fascinating to see whether this order holds in upcoming tournaments—and which of the two new teams will benefit most from the shake-up. A direct rivalry is certainly brewing, and there will be plenty of excitement every time they step onto the court.
The P2 in Asunción is shaping up to be a thrilling event, especially with all the recent movements in the women’s rankings. We’ll be keeping a close eye on the official debut of Marta Ortega and Alejandra Alonso, as well as on the rest of the Premier Padel circuit teams as they navigate their new partnerships.
