Sensational in Brussels! The Women's Qualy Makes History and the Men's Classics Leave Us Breathless

What an incredible day of padel we were lucky enough to enjoy yesterday at the Brussels P2! What seemed like it would be a calm Round of 16 gifted us major surprises, especially in a women's draw that is demonstrating an unstoppable generational renewal.

🔥 Surprises in the women's draw

If anyone had told us at the beginning of the tournament that two pairs from the qualifying rounds would sneak into the quarterfinals, we wouldn't have believed it! But women's padel in Brussels has written a golden page in the history of Premier Padel. For the first time, two pairs from the Qualy have managed to reach this stage: Marta Borrero - Martina Calvo and Laia Rodríguez - Raquel Eugenio have managed to eliminate the seeded pairs: Marta Ortega - Sofi Araujo and Jessica Castelló - Aranza Osoro respectively, marking a milestone in the history of Premier Padel. What a feat!

This meteoric rise of young players is no coincidence. We've been seeing it for some time now, the young girls are coming on strong, with a freshness and determination that are putting the more established players in trouble. The future of women's padel is bright!

On the other hand, the "Turkis" Alonso and Ustero, one of our favorite pairs, are not going through their best moment and have once again fallen in the Round of 16. We wish them a lot of encouragement and all the best for the following tournaments!

As for the rest of the women's draw, the main favorite pairs advanced without major surprises, consolidating their position in the ranking.

💪 Good performances in the men's draw

In the men's draw, Juan Lebrón and Álex Ruiz, who will only play together in this tournament, once again delivered an outstanding performance. Their chemistry on the court is evident, and their 6-3, 6-4 victory over Collado and Diestro made it clear that this temporary pair can go far and play a great role this week.

For their part, Tello and Di Nenno continue with their good momentum. Although this is their first tournament as a pair (they had already formed a duo in the Hexagon Cup), their performance in Brussels already reflects a solid understanding.

In another notable match, Paquito Navarro and Lucas Bergamini defeated "Los Mágicos" in a final tiebreak that could have gone either way. As Paquito commented after the match, it was a very balanced and fun duel that we thoroughly enjoyed as spectators.

Finally, Pablo Cardona and Leo Augsburger struggled to win their match in 3 sets against Cepero and Torre, who had already eliminated the new Garrido-Libaak pair in the previous round and have shown an incredible level in this tournament.

🔜 Looking ahead

Tomorrow, there will be a highly anticipated match between Tapia-Coello and Cardona-Augsburger. So far, the head-to-head record is tied at 1-1, so a very competitive encounter is expected.

We are already looking forward to the start of the day so we don't miss a single match of this exciting Brussels P2 and can tell you all about it again. See you on the court!
