Once again, Isaías Blaiotta and Seba Nerone treat us to another fascinating chat on their YouTube podcast Veinte Diez Pádel – this time with Gemma Triay, one of the most outstanding players on the circuit – in addition to their particular analysis and vision of both current events and the highly anticipated Qatar Major.
The conversation with Gemma covered very interesting points; starting with the importance that these days leading up to the competition have had in order to adequately prepare for the first Major of the season. Despite having a simply spectacular start to the circuit, achieving no less than three titles and reaching a final that, unfortunately, could not be completed due to inclement weather, these days at home will surely be key to success in Doha.
Triay is very happy with how things are going for her this year, and the good chemistry and understanding she is achieving with her partner Delfi Brea is proving crucial in this; with whom, despite still finishing adapting, she stated that they have a very good personal connection and that this is reflected in their game, finding themselves better and better on the court.
Of course, she didn't hold back her praise for her partner; a Delfi who has adapted her more direct and aggressive game to a more strategic style with which Triay feels more comfortable. Gemma is visibly proud of how the Argentine has become one of the players who best manages the pause to find the precise moment to attack on the entire circuit.
It was also interesting to hear her explain how the week in Chile unfolded and, above all, the controversial decision to suspend the final of the P1 in Santiago; basically, the intense rains that hit the tournament left the court very wet, which not only made the game difficult but also caused multiple slips by the four players. Who, given the risk to their physical integrity that was beginning to arise, were forced to make the decision to suspend the match.
An understandable and correct decision, but one that serves to accentuate the controversy that exists in the PREMIER PÁDEL circuit regarding the high number of OUTDOOR tournaments that are going to be played. On such a hot topic, Gemma clearly positioned herself in favor of playing on INDOOR courts. For her, this surface favors the spectacle of the game, allowing players to show their best level and quality. She believes that the sport looks much better indoors, although she also appreciates having some OUTDOOR tournaments for variety.
And finally, Gemma spoke openly about her relationship with followers and "haters" on social media. She acknowledged that criticism and negative comments affect her a lot, so she prefers to distance herself as much as possible and avoid reading them to protect her emotional well-being. And she ended by mentioning her ideas and projects beyond the court for when it's time for her to retire.
Without a doubt, a very interesting interview that helps us get to know Gemma Triay in a more personal way.
After the chat, Isaías and Seba reviewed the main points of current padel news; focusing on the Qatar Major that has just started. A very complete and interesting podcast that we invite you to enjoy. Many thanks, once again, to the VEINTE DIEZ PADEL Channel, and we are already looking forward to next Monday.
