Due to Stupa's injury, the Doha-Qatar Major, one of the most anticipated events on the FIP circuit, loses another big name from the circuit: Juan Lebrón.
Although when Franco’s withdrawal was announced, it was thought that Juan would play with a player from the waiting list, since the other top pairs had already signed up and therefore it wasn’t possible — as he did for the P2 in Brussels — to find a new partner among the Top 20 players. However, since the tournament was already taking place, it is not possible for a player from the waiting list to step in as a replacement.
A different case, as explained by PADEL WARRIOR on their X channel, was what happened at the 2024 Italy Major with Delfi Brea and Alba Gallardo, who entered from the waiting list to replace the injured Bea González because the tournament had not yet started.
This type of regulation highlights the importance of deadlines and planning in the professional circuit. Although the news is a tough blow for Lebrón himself, it opens the door for other players who now have the opportunity to take advantage of his absence and progress further in the tournament than they initially planned.
We’ll have to wait for Brussels to see the Wolf again, who will surely use this time to strengthen his preparation and recover the points from this Major in future tournaments. Stay strong, Juan, we’re looking forward to seeing you back on the court soon!
