Yesterday saw the second matchday of the FUTPADEL League, a competition we're absolutely loving and are excited to keep following—not only because it's so entertaining, but also because we’re convinced it will help bring even more attention to the world of padel.
At the end of this post, you’ll find the full match video so you can check out all the action yourself—and trust us, there’s real talent out there. You can tell some of these players put in a lot of hours on court! 😄😄
Match 1: AZULONES (Getafe – Gavilán & Codina) vs. VALLEKANOS (Daniel Provencio & Leo Ulloa)
Neither team had scored points on the first matchday, so there was a lot of anticipation to see who would finally get on the board. The match was decided quickly with a dominant double 6-1 win for the AZULONES. Gavilán and Codina came out firing from the start and the VALLEKANOS couldn’t keep up with their intensity and aggressive game. Getafe’s team looks strong and, with talk of further reinforcements, they’re clearly aiming for a top spot in the standings.
Match 2: ROJIBLANCOS (Atlético de Madrid – Roberto & Mejías) vs. PEPINEROS (Leganés – Quini & Javi Guerrero)
There was plenty of interest in seeing Roberto again after his standout performance on the first day. But this time, things didn’t go his way. The PEPINEROS claimed a convincing win with a 6-2, 6-1 scoreline, a result that might not fully reflect how tight some of the points were. Guerrero and Quini consistently found ways to win the key rallies and now look like serious contenders in the tournament. A pair to watch closely—they promise plenty of exciting moments ahead.
Match 3: CHÉS (Valencia – Mista & David Silva) vs. INTERNACIONALES (Iker Casillas & Rubén de la Red)
Possibly the most anticipated match of the evening! On one side, the CHÉS from Valencia with Mista and David Silva, and on the other, the INTERNACIONAL team made up of Iker Casillas and Rubén de la Red. Big names, world champions, and a real boost to the prestige of the league.
Mista had already impressed on the first day, showing a wide range of shots and great court presence. He confirmed those impressions again, and looks set to be one of the tournament's top players. Despite some good moments from Iker and Rubén, the CHÉS took control and sealed the win with a 6-2, 6-3 victory. A very enjoyable match that saw Valencia claim their first points, while Casillas and De la Red will need more training to catch up to the league’s top rackets.
Match 4: LEONES (Fernando Llorente & Juanjo Valencia) vs. GRANOTAS (Suárez & Toño)
The final match of the day promised the highest level of competition—and it didn’t disappoint. LEONES’ Fernando Llorente had already shown impressive skills in matchday one, and it’s clear he’s passionate about padel and eager to raise the league’s level. The GRANOTAS had also started strong, but despite a hard-fought match full of technical highlights, they couldn’t overcome the LEONES, who secured the win with a 7-5, 6-3 result.
A brilliant way to wrap up the week and one that left us excited for what’s coming next. What surprises await in the next round?
Once again, hats off to the FUTPADEL League organizers for this incredible initiative—we’re all in!
And now, here’s the video with all four matches so you can enjoy them for yourself.
See you next week!
